No motor can compete with an electric motor. Physical laws say it is impossible. The oil and gas industry will collapse within a few years. So will all car companies that do not go all in on electric cars. Compressed air is as meaningless as hydrogen. You use much more energy to make it than you get back.

MDI & Tata motors worked on a compressed air powered car in 07 or 08? What happened to that? I remember they were planning on using carbon fiber tanks to store the compressed air in so that would lessen the chance of an explosion in a crash, The engine it's self was designed with an articulating connecting rod to keep the piston near TDC longer for more power.

Breakdown the lithium component like diamonds and zirconia and see if you can make a copy of the lithium as opposed to the real lithium, break it down and see if it could be copy man-made like zirconia

There is not a rise in EV cars and there won’t be because we can not sustain a big enough power grid to make it work! Let people use gas fuel which is less corrosive to the environment than building the billions of batteries for EV development.

I love the idea. But... We need to improve the piston ring system before air engines can work for any length of time. Even brand new gas piston engines leak a little bit on each down stroke. I suspect air engines will need new rings often.

Regenerative braking, an alternator type battery, and or friction heat powered uv panel design etc, should be able to restore the compressed air without charging station stops. A removable, chargeable electric air pump is additional option. Furthermore, if an oxygen air cannister is explosion risk, should be possible to modify compressed air tank with 50lbs battery to safely run a regular combustion engine any way. With no liquid fuel emissions tho

This is great but maybe an electric, ceramic hot air combustion engine would be better. An electric motor can likely make hot way more efficiently than moving car. Battery probably charge in five minutes or less for that use, or maybe supercapacitor recharges it during drive.

So they’re making motors like the air jammer toys back in the 80s. You’re still gonna need oil to lubricate those pistons.

I actually like this idea except 42 things. 1.) It is ridiculous to say that this will not pollute the environment. How does air get compressed? You're going to need a diesel generator to produce electricity to compress the air. 2.) Compressed air cars are already being built in india. They make a strange farting sound going up the road. So to act as if GM just discovered this all by themselves is ridiculous. I will say however, that it is a far better idea than these ridiculous electric cars that have been shoved on the american public.

The reason combustion vehicle sales are down has nothing to do with alternative vehicles types it's the fact that the big three have over bloated the price of new cars a common car shouldn't cost as much as a house

This engine would actually work if they used supercritical CO2 and the brayton cycle. otherwise power output is way too low.

More energy in the electricity of the process when you get from the resulting gas. So just use the original electricity and be more efficient, WITHOUT having to pay for the DISTILLED water that cost as much as gasoline. Or dealing with the heat issues of the electrolysis, as too much heat and you have a streamer and not a gas generator. And even the best metals in an electrolysis machine corrode. Some faster than others, but buildup WILL happen.

What energy do you use to compress the air? As with all energy you lose energy when you change it from one to another.
